Some Tests Performed to Diagnose Hypophosphatasia
ALP: Alkaline Phosphatase (usually low in blood)
PEA: Phosphoethanolamine (usually high in urine)
PPi: Inorganic Pyrophosphate (usually high in blood & urine)
PLP: Pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (usually high in blood)
When interpreting an ALP level, it is important that appropriate age ranges for normals be used.
